Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Answers to your frequently asked questions

Q: Is chiropractic safe?

A: Yes. Chiropractic is recognized as one of the safest options available to individuals suffering from a wide variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. The risks associated with chiropractic are much less than those of common over-the-counter NSAIDs such as aspirin and ibuprofen.

Q: Do I need a referral from a physician or my insurance company?

A: No. Dr. Tinker is a Portal of Entry Physician; meaning that no referral is needed to receive corrective chiropractic care at Spinal Solution Centers. Simply give us a call or click the link to schedule an appointment and get started on your path to better health today.

Q: Do you work with medical doctors?

A: Yes. Comprehensive new patient examinations as well as periodic re-examinations are conducted to see if a patient’s condition warrants referral to their medical doctor or a specialist. In these cases, we will happily co-manage your care with your medical doctor. We welcome any and all pre-existing conditions and look forward to being a cooperative element of your healthcare team.

Q: Will you suggest exercises or other things I can do at home?

A: Yes. Many of our patients receive custom exercise and traction programs designed to address their unique postural needs between office visits. Ongoing home care is a vital part of the long term spinal correction and health maintenance process. You will receive in-office training and instruction using the same methods and tools needed for your home care. We recognize that some patients may not be comfortable or physically able to do home care. Therefore, we welcome any of our patients to utilize our in-office rehab and therapy center where a doctor and licensed physiotherapist will be happy to supervise your care.

Q: Do you take insurance?

A: Yes. Although many of our patients find that our direct fees are lower than their insurance co-pay, we understand that you may want to use your provider’s chiropractic coverage. As a courtesy to our patients, our staff will verify chiropractic benefits and bill insurance when applicable.

Q: Will I get adjusted on the first visit?

A: Not Usually. Your health and safety is paramount at Spinal Solution Centers. Therefore, we take the utmost care when assessing your case. This involves in-depth radiographic analysis for pathology and structural integrity, which takes a considerable amount of the doctor’s time. If the patient wants to be adjusted as soon as possible, it may be feasible to schedule a follow up visit later that same day for an adjustment.

Q: Do you take X-rays?

A: Yes. As spinal corrective care specialists, it is important that we have a very clear picture of the condition of your spine for several reasons. First, we need to know if there are any underlying conditions or pathologies which might warrant more serious medical intervention. Also, spinal x-rays let your doctor know how your body has adapted to years of biomechanical stresses. Your unique care plan and treatment methods will be crafted specifically for you based off of computerized analysis of your digital spinal x-rays.

Q: How many visits are necessary to treat my condition?

A: We understand that it is important for you to know how long it will take to get the results you are looking for. The length and intensity of care depends on your specific needs and goals. After Dr. Tinker has gathered all the information on your case, you will be presented with a detailed report of findings at which point the doctor will make his recommendations and you can make an informed decision about the level of care that will fit your needs.

Q: Do you offer a family plan?

A: Yes. Many of our patients wish to get their entire family checked regularly to ensure that everyone is functioning at their full potential. Chiropractic has been shown to be extremely beneficial for children suffering with conditions such as asthma, ADHD, allergies/sinusitis, ear infections and many others. We are proud to offer affordable family care packages so that you can make these benefits available to your loved ones.

Q: Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

A: Yes. Proper spinal alignment is extremely important for individuals who have had spinal surgery in the past. For these patients, Dr. Tinker creates a personalized care plan designed optimize the structure of the rest of the spine without compromising the area which was affected by the surgery.

Q: How much time does it take for a typical visit?

A: Office visits can take anywhere from ten minutes to a half hour. The time spent in-office depends on the preferences and needs of each individual patient. Many patients take the time to do corrective exercises and traction in our rehab facility while other on-the-go wellness patients stop in for a quick “tune up” adjustment and are back on the road in minutes.

Q: Will I get a prescription for some pain medication?

A: No. Spinal Solution Centers takes pride in offering the highest level spinal corrective care without using drugs or surgery. While we understand that these options may be necessary in some cases, our team works hard to help our patients get the spinal solutions they are seeking without having to resort to more dangerous alternatives.
